Golf Cart Repair in Sun City Peachtree

Sun City Peachtree is a 55 and older active adult community off Jordan Hill Road and Teamon Road in unincorporated Spalding County, about 5.4 miles north-northeast of the center of Griffin. Golf cart repairs are done at your home there, with the $50 to $100 service call applied toward the repair and the same published prices as everywhere else in the service area.

The community, from the sources

The Griffin Daily News, reporting on the county commission’s final meeting of 2025, described Sun City Peachtree as a 55 and older active adult community where construction began in 2007 and homes are built in neighborhoods called pods, and noted the commission’s approval of the final plats for Pod 26A (Phase 1, 93 homes) and Pod 18 (33 homes). The community’s own residents’ website listed 2,034 homes closed as of March 2026. Its amenities center is Club Peachtree, with the sports facility beside it on Del Webb Boulevard, and a 2019 county commission discussion, reported by The GRIP, described Del Webb Boulevard as the primary road through the community.

The cart rules that apply here

Sun City Peachtree is not inside Griffin’s city limits, so Griffin’s PTV ordinance does not govern its streets. Spalding County’s does.

Spalding County Code Sec. 7-1013 covers motorized carts on streets and paved recreation paths inside the county’s active adult residential, village node, and planned development residential zoning districts. Its main points:

RuleWhat the county code says
RegistrationWith the Spalding County Tax Commissioner; the code lists $25 a year, due by January 31, two decals on the sides (confirm the current fee with the county)
DriverOver 16 with a valid driver’s license, or 15 with a permit and a licensed driver over 21 in the front seat
LightsDaylight only, unless the cart has working headlights and taillights
Jordan Hill Road and Highway 155No carts or low-speed vehicles, except at designated crossings
Recreation pathsRegistered electric golf carts allowed; gas-powered and unregistered carts not allowed
Warning deviceGolf carts on the paths need a horn or bell
SeatingEveryone seated, nobody on the driver’s lap

Spalding County Code Sec. 7-1014 sets a 25 mph speed limit in county subdivisions and lists Sun City Peachtree by name.

The community’s own rules. The residents’ website says golf carts must be driven by someone with a valid Georgia driver’s license who follows the same rules of the road as cars, that carts may not use the golf course cart trails, and that carts are not allowed on the walking paths. When a golf cart parking space is not free at the amenity lots, it says to use a car space.

Which zoning district a given street sits in is a question for the county, and this page does not answer it street by street. Check with Spalding County before driving a cart somewhere you are unsure about.

What this means for repairs

Lights for evening trips. Under the county code, a cart out after daylight needs working headlights and taillights. A dead lamp limits when the cart can legally be used. Lighting circuit repairs typically run $75 to $150; see lights and street-legal equipment.

A horn or bell for the paths. Carts on the county’s recreation paths need a warning device. A horn that has gone quiet is a small repair.

Electric, not gas, on the paths. Gas-powered golf carts are barred from the county’s recreation paths, so a cart meant for the paths has to be electric, and for an electric cart battery care is the main maintenance job. See battery replacement.

Short trips, many stops. A cart used for short hops around a community is gentle on its motor but works its brakes, and it may rarely get a full recharge cycle. A twice-yearly tune-up catches both.

Winter. The NOAA normals station at Experiment, near Griffin, averages 51.8 nights a year at or below freezing. A cart left in the garage on a partial charge over the holidays can come out in January unwilling to move. The after-winter page covers that case.

What is planned across the road

The Griffin Daily News reported in March 2026 that a 120-acre shopping plaza planned directly across from Sun City Peachtree by McLeRoy Inc. is expected to draw residents, with plans to make it golf cart accessible from the community. As of that report the plaza had rezoning approval and an approved construction plan but had not been built. How carts would reach it, and under what rules, was not described.
